As you prepare for your wedding day, one of the most important jobs you will have to do is your guest list. Check out the infographic below for some expert advice on how to manage your guest list.
As you put together your wedding guest list you will undoubtedly be faced with some tricky decisions. While it would be fantastic to invite everyone you know, financial and venue limitations often mean that this is just not do-able. Deciding on which names will make the list can be hard as you need to achieve the right balance between keeping numbers down while also preventing hurt feelings.
How to Cut Your Wedding Guest List
If your initial guest list draft appears to be overloaded, then you will need to think about reducing the number of guests that you invite. In these cases, it’s best to chat with your partner about setting some firm rules. For example, don’t send an invite to anyone solely out of guilt.
Another good idea is to sort your list into A, B, and C categories. Any names on the A-List are non-negotiables, while your C-List will be made up of “nice to haves”. You should then arrange guests into sub-groups, e.g. distant relatives, colleagues and friends of parents. We advise cutting groups as a whole, so you can avoid awkward questions like “why them and not me?” Take advantage of the after-party to invite anyone who you couldn’t fit into the ceremony guest list.
