Whether you choose to incorporate one or all of these suggestions into your wedding day celebration, your Mother is certain to appreciate that you thought of her when planning your big day.

1.  Take Her Dress Shopping (for you and for her)

Wedding Dress Try-On

When searching for that perfect wedding dress, your mom will be completely honest with you about what looks good, and even what does not. Also, there is nothing better than seeing the look on her face when you’ve found the perfect dress.

Don’t let your Mother’s attire feel like an afterthought! Plan a special day out with just her, instead of trying to find her dress while picking out your own or while shopping with your bridesmaids.

2.  Give Your Mother a Heartfelt Gift

Gift for Mother

After your Mother helps you get ready, give her a gift to show how much you appreciate her. It doesn’t have to be expensive. A heartfelt letter expressing your gratitude or any other precious sentiment can mean more than anything.

3.  Something Borrowed

Something Borrowed Gift

Fulfill your requisite “Something Borrowed” by wearing a piece of your mother’s jewelry on your wedding day.  Make it an heirloom if she wore that very piece at her own wedding as well.

4.  Special Songs

Is there a song your Mother always sang to you as a child? Or a song that always makes you think of her? Surprise her by choosing that song for her ceremony entrance.

If your Mother and Father are still married, make sure your DJ plays their wedding song and dedicates it to them.

5.  Give Her a Corsage

Provide her with a corsage to wear throughout the day, preferably with similar flowers to your bridesmaids’ bouquets.

6.   Showcase Her Favorite Recipe

Is your mom known for her cooking? Have your caterer recreate one of her favorite recipes to serve during the cocktail hour or reception. Consider the recipe and whether you could serve it as an hors d’oeuvre during cocktail hour or as a more substantial part of the reception meal.

7.  Thank Your Mother in the Ceremony Program

Hopefully you’re already planning to thank your mother in your reception toast, but an additional note in the ceremony program is a thoughtful gesture.
