“When you trip over love, it is easy to get up. But when you fall in love, it is impossible to stand again.”
– Albert Einstein
With approximately ninety guests looking on, Jeri and Ken became Mr. and Mrs. Ken Madden on January 10, 2015 in Tallahassee. The Los Robles Women’s Club provided the beautiful setting for the ceremony on the crisp January day.
On a Saturday afternoon, Ken surprised Jeri with a trip to the jewelry store. It was there that he proposed with a family heirloom diamond. She then chose the accompanying setting and wedding ring.
The Wedding Planner
Jeri and Ken were married in Tallahassee so who else but John Gandy and John Gandy Events would do the planning and execution for this special day? Jeri told me that she did not have to lift a finger because of the professionalism of John Gandy Events! She told them, “Surprise me!” and they did with a classic, simple, and beautiful wedding which was she wanted her theme to be. Jeri told me that she had so much confidence in John Gandy Events that she did not even pick out the flowers or know the layout before the ceremony! In the interest of full disclosure, Jeri had worked in the wedding industry for a number of years and knew that she could trust John Gandy Events to put on a top-notch, detail-oriented ceremony.
The Wedding Dress
Jeri bought her dress from David’s Bridal and had a fantastic experience. The staff was extremely helpful and knew exactly what would fit her body type. She was very happy with her experience!
The bride walked down the aisle to the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” by IZ. Before the recitation of their vows, the bride and groom took part in a beautiful ceremony where the couple sat on a gorgeous white couch facing their guests. During this portion of the wedding, the couple’s love story was told by questions asked by the bride and groom about their relationship. The officiant, standing behind the couch, answered their questions based on answers prepared by the couple before the ceremony. It was really quite lovely. Afterwards, the couple recited their traditional vows and were pronounced husband and wife.
The First Dance
Jeri and Ken danced their first dance as husband and wife to Rascal Flatts’ “God Bless the Broken Road”.

Theme and Color Scheme
Jeri’s theme was classic, simple and elegant. The color scheme was eggplant purple & gold/champagne with accents of silver & dark grey. This was truly a beautiful combination as the theme and color scheme complemented each other perfectly.
The Wedding Reception
Jeri describes the wedding reception in one simple word: “fabulous”. The food consisted of a prime rib carving station with all the trimmings. There was also a pasta station, southern appetizer food station with a variety of different offerings, and soup and salad bar. There was also an open bar of beer and wine.
A live band played music from the oldies to rock music that everyone remembers. There was something for everyone to dance to and have a great time! People were able to get out on the dance floor and dance to their favorite tunes!
